BUC HITS

ETSU (4-6, 1-6) defeated Cumberland 23-16 last Saturday on Homecoming Saturday.

Last Saturday, both teams combined for 39 points and 484 yards of total offense in the first half; however, they were held scoreless on 259 yards of offense in the second half … The teams combined to score touchdowns on the first five possessions of the game … Overall, the Buccaneer defense limited Cumberland to 133 total yards of offense in the second half (11 rushing yards/122 passing yards), while also holding the Phoenix to 1-of-7 on third and 1-of-3 on fourth down in the second half.

Jajuan Stinson (Knoxville, Tenn.) has posted over 100 all-purpose yards seven times in his young Buccaneer career … When the sophomore running back goes over 100 all purpose yards, the Bucs are 6-1 in those contests … Stinson totaled 143 all purpose yards in last week’s win over Cumberland.

Stinson earned General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week honors on Wednesday … Stinson – who scored all three touchdowns in last Saturday’s win – became the first Buccaneer to accomplish the feat since 2003 when Gaven Varner rushed for three scores against VMI.

Sophomore Dylan Weigel (Pickerington, Ohio) and graduate senior Ryan Powers (Jupiter, Fla.) have recorded double-digit tackles in their last three games … Weigel has 32 tackles in his last three contests, while Powers has totaled 33.

Prior to Saturday’s game the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will recognize four Buccaneers who are donning the Blue and Gold one last time … Defensive backs Tavian Lott (D’Lo, Miss.) and Ryan Powers, wide receiver Chad Pritchard (Johnson City, Tenn.) and defensive lineman Royce Turnbull (Charlotte, N.C.) are playing their final game as Buccaneers on Saturday … Lott has started all 21 games as Buccaneer, while totaling 64 tackles (2.5 TFL), three interceptions, six pass break ups and one forced fumble … Powers – who played his first three seasons at Stetson – transferred to ETSU as a graduate student … Powers has started nine games for the Blue and Gold, while registering 64 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, seven pass break ups and one forced fumble … The Jupiter, Fla. native has recorded double-digit tackles four times this season – including a season-high 12 at Mercer … Like Lott, Pritchard has played the last two seasons for ETSU … The Elizabethton, Tenn. native has played in all 21 games, making three starts and totaling 23 receptions for 342 yards … Pritchard had a career-high three receptions in ETSU’s win over Western Carolina at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this season and posted a career-best 57 receiving yards at #21 Montana State last October … Turnbull has played in 13 games over the last two seasons, while his 2016 campaign was cut short due to injury … In his 13 career games, Turnbull has posted eight tackles, including at least one tackle in seven games.

ETSU has won six of its last eight season finales, including its last two with wins over Kentucky Wesleyan (42-27; 2105) and The Citadel (16-13; 2003).

A Buccaneer win over Samford would finish ETSU’s season with a record of 5-6 … A win would mark ETSU’s 340th win all-time in program history … A win would mark the Bucs’ first-ever win over Samford, while be their first victory over a ranked opponent since knocking off #1 Georgia Southern, 19-16, in 2001.
