Bucs begin spring practice Feb. 28; MSHA Spring Game to be held April 8 at Kermit Tipton Stadium

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2017) – East Tennessee State University football head coach Carl Torbush and his staff announced the Buccaneers’ spring practice schedule on Tuesday. The Bucs will open practice on February 28, and wrap practice up with the Mountain States Health Alliance Spring Game on Saturday, April 8 at 12 p.m. at Kermit Tipton Stadium. 

“We are excited to release our 2017 spring practice schedule,” said Torbush. “Obviously, this is a very important time for the growth of our program. We are excited to build off the momentum in which we ended our 2016 season. We have most of our players returning, so this is a key time to see how much improvement we have made.”

Please note, practice days and times are subject to change. Practices will begin at 4 p.m. and will be held on the practice fields adjacent the Basler Center for Physical Activity. Practices and scrimmages are free and open to the general public. For schedule changes, please follow @ETSUFootball on Twitter for updates. 


On September 2, 2017, East Tennessee State University will begin playing football on campus for the first time since November 22, 2003. The Home for Buccaneer Football will be a classic horseshoe designed stadium nestled at the foot of Buffalo Mountain in the campus' southwest corner. 

The Bucs will host Limestone in their 2017 season opener inside the new stadium.
