Football to hold MSHA Spring Game on Saturday at Kermit Tipton Stadium

Fun-filled day set with Football, Baseball and Buccaneer Bash

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 7, 2017) – Join a fun-filled day with the Buccaneers on Saturday. 

The ETSU football team wraps up spring practice with the Mountain States Health Alliance Spring Game at 12 p.m. at Kermit Tipton Stadium, while Buccaneer baseball hosts Western Carolina at 2 p.m. at Thomas Stadium. Following those games, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will hold the “Buccaneer Bash” at 6:30 p.m. inside the MSHA Athletic Center. 

Below is information on each event on Saturday. 


ETSU Football Family “State of the Program”

  • When: 9-10:30 a.m.
  • Location: Humphreys Center (Second Floor of the west side of the Mini Dome)
  • Who: Open to all former players, coaches, cheerleaders, and support staff
  • About: Coach Torbush will recap spring practice, while look ahead to the 2017 campaign … He and his staff will talk about the 2017 signing class and highlight some of the future opponents for the Bucs … At the end of the event, those in attendance will get to tour the ETSU Football Stadium construction site. 


  • The game is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. at Kermit Tipton Stadium
  • The game is free for all fans
  • Gates open at 11 a.m., and fans are encouraged to enter through the West and South gates
  • The game will feature Offense (Blue) vs. Defense (White) and will have a specific scoring system

Offensive Scoring – Touchdown = 6pts; Field Goal =3pts; Extra-Point = 1pt

Defensive Scoring – Interception = 6pts; Fumble Recovery = 6pts; Safety = 2pts;

Missed Field Goal = 3pts; Missed Extra-Point = 1pt  


  • ETSU and Western Carolina will play game two of its three-game series Saturday at 2 p.m. at Thomas Stadium
  • Fans who attend the MSHA Spring Game and pick up a 2017 Football schedule card will receive free admission to the baseball game when presenting the card at the ticket window at Thomas Stadium 


  • The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will host its annual “BIG Buccaneer Bash Auction" in support of the program’s student-athletes this Saturday evening, April 8th at the ETSU/Mountain States Health Alliance Athletics Center.
  • The event – which will feature over 100 items for bid during a silent auction and 12 exclusive once-in-a-lifetime experiences during the live auction – will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature great food, an open bar, and a DJ to cap the evening.
