JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 8, 2018) – As ETSU football approaches kickoff for the 2018 campaign, ETSUBucs.com will count down the days by featuring the program’s 21 seniors on the site and via social media throughout the summer months.
Today marks 85 days until the Buccaneers open the season against Mars Hill on Saturday, Sept. 1 at William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium. Senior kicker and No. 85 JJ Jerman (Seymour, Tenn.) is the fifth player to be featured in this special segment.
Jerman, one of the top kickers in program history, is 34-for-47 (72%) in field goals, 61-of-62 in extra-points and has totaled 163 points in his first three seasons with the Buccaneers. The 2017 all-SoCon selection ranks third all-time in program history in extra-points, fourth in field goals and fifth in scoring. Jerman has a posted a pair of game-winning walk-off field goals as he made a 24-yarder to lift the Bucs to a 20-17 double-overtime win at Kennesaw State to open the 2016 season, while he ended that season with a 28-yard field goal as time expired to secure a 15-14 victory over No. 18 Samford. Jerman, who has posted nine field goals of over 40 yards in his career (7-of-9 in 2017 from that distance), made a pair of 51-yard field goals last year to set a new-career high and marked the second-longest field goal in ETSU history.
