Johnson City, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State freshman Corey Carter (Greenwood, S.C.) earned Southern Conference Freshman-of-the-Week honors for his efforts in a 38-3 Southern Conference-opening win against VMI on September 16.

The 6-1 running back rambled for 107 yards on 18 carries (5.9 yards/attempt) to eclipse the 100-yard mark for the first time in his collegiate career. He also scored two touchdowns (one yard, 12 yards) -- both in the second quarter.

After three games this season, Carter ranks third on the team with 146 rushing yards on 39 attempts. He is averaging 3.7 yards/carry and is tied for the team lead with two rushing touchdowns.

The Bucs (2-1, 1-0 Southern Conference) travel to Cullowhee, N.C. to battle SoCon-rival Western Carolina at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 23.
