Ladies’ Football Clinic to be held inside the Dome on Sept. 7

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 26, 2013) – ETSU football head coach Carl Torbush and his staff announced Monday that they will be hosting a Ladies’ Football Clinic inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletics Center on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The event, officially labeled “Ladies’ Football Clinic … Everything you always wanted to know about football,” is designed to educate women about the game.

“Our goal as we promote our new football program and engage the community is to pinpoint different segments of the population to target for special events,” said ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Richard Sander. “For example, we also have plans underway to create events for ETSU faculty, staff and students, as well as other constituent groups like are youth leagues, local parents and their children, and community volunteer organizations. In regards to our women’s clinic, other major collegiate athletic programs across the country offer clinics specifically targeted to women, including institutions such as Tennessee, Texas, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Clemson and Mississippi State.

"These events have been extremely popular and successful at these schools, and we anticipate the same to be true here at ETSU.”

The clinic begins with registration and a continental breakfast at 8:15 a.m., and will end at noon with a skills session. Throughout the morning, those in attendance will learn about all aspects of the game such as: offense, defense, special teams, rules, equipment, and strength and conditioning.

Following the clinic schedule, there will be a short skills session that will allow ladies to participate in some football-related activities. Anyone wishing to participate in that skills session should wear appropriate work-out attire.

The clinic costs $20 per person; however, ETSU employees and students are free with a valid ID. Every woman will receive an ETSU Football notebook, along with the opportunity to win prizes.
