MOREHEAD, Ky. - East Tennessee's Dimeco Childress hit a three-pointer with 13 seconds remaining, then blocked a last-second shot by Morehead State's Ricky Minard to give the Buccaneers a 71-70 win over MSU on Saturday (Dec. 2) evening in Morehead.
Ryan Lawson led ETSU with 20 points. Childress had 18 points, and Jerald Fields added 10 points for the winners who are now 2-4 on the season.
Morehead State, now 2-1, got 25 points from Minard, 15 points from Iker Lopez and 10 points from Kyle Umberger.
ETSU led by as many as eight points in the first half and by two, 34-32 at halftime.
Morehead State got a three-pointer from Lopez to open the second half to take the lead. The Eagles led by as many as nine point in the second period before the Bucs rallied. ETSU led only twice in the second half, 64-63 with 3:36 to go, then again on Childress' game winner.
The Bucs hit 54.2 percent (26 of 48) from the field, including 50 percent (10 of 20) from three-point range. MSU struggled from the field, hitting only 43.1 percent.
