Thursday, May 01, 2003JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 1, 2002) - Head coach Murry Bartow announced Thursday the signing of Houma, La., native Aaron Scott to a national letter of intent with the East Tennessee State University men's basketball team. "We're very excited about the decision Aaron has made to join our program," Bartow said. "He is a very athletic player who is a great runner and a great defender. He can rebound the ball and also has the ability to score." Scott, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound small forward, averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists per game at H.L. Bourgeois High School. He was an all-district, all-region and honorable mention all-state selection, as well as a candidate for the McDonald's All-American team. He played amateur basketball with the Gulf Coast Stars. In addition, Bartow said Scott fits the mold of ETSU's current players - a quality individual that also perform well in the classroom. "He fits the profile we're looking for," Bartow said. "He's a good person who is also good academically. That's the reason we wanted him to join us." Scott is the first recruit to join the ETSU men's program since Bartow took over the Buccaneers' head coaching job two weeks ago.
