JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 29, 2011) – Former ETSU standouts Courtney Pigram (Memphis) and Justin Tubbs (Trussville, Ala.) were selected in the NBA Developmental League draft on Thursday evening.
Pigram was picked by the Idaho Stampede in the fifth round, while Tubbs went to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the eighth round.
After an ETSU career that included a trip to the NIT in 2007 and a NCAA Tournament berth in 2009, Pigram – the 2006-07 Atlantic Sun Conference player of the year – has spent the last two seasons playing professionally around the globe. During his time at ETSU, Pigram was a prolific scorer and ultimately finished third on the Bucs’ all-time scoring list with 2,043 points.
Meanwhile, Tubbs helped the Bucs to back-to-back postseason tournaments during his two seasons in Johnson City, as the team went to the NCAAs in 2010 and the CollegeInsider.com Tournament in 2011. Known for his high-flying dunks and ability to strike from beyond the 3-point line, Tubbs was a major offensive weapon for the team.
The NBADL regular season schedule begins Friday, Nov. 25, and ends in mid April.
