JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 5, 2013) – ETSU senior guard Jarvis Jones (Memphis) scored a career high 36 points and hit three straight 3-pointers in overtime to defeat Lipscomb Saturday, helping earn his first career Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday.
Jones, who currently leads the Bucs in scoring with 16.3 points per game, actually set career highs for scoring in back-to-back games last week. He netted a personal best with 23 points in the Bucs’ loss to Northern Kentucky (Jan. 31) before besting that effort with his 36 points in the win over Lipscomb (Feb. 2).
In addition to his offensive point production, Jones also averaged four assists per game last week and swiped a pair of steals. He becomes the first ETSU player to receive this honor during the 2012-13 season.
The Bucs will return to action on Thursday evening, taking to the road to play Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m. in Fort Myers, Fla. For more on ETSU men’s basketball throughout the 2012-13 season, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the men’s hoops link.
