JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 3, 2014) – The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced last Friday that the university’s students would receive free admission to Tuesday's Atlantic Sun Conference quarterfinal game with Lipscomb, and Monday the department released information regarding how that was made possible.
The tickets are being purchased thanks to the generosity of Mountain States Health Alliance.
While the A-Sun ticket pricing structure announced on Thursday calls for a $5 student ticket, ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Richard Sander said it was important for the department to show appreciation to the university’s students by covering the cost of those tickets, and that MSHA was willing to help make that happen.
“We would not be here without the support of our student body,” Sander said. “So in this situation, we want to provide the opportunity for any student at ETSU to be here on Tuesday night and support our program. It’s rare to host a postseason tournament game, and to make it a successful event we need a fantastic home court advantage. Allowing our students to be here free of charge is simply the right thing to do, and we appreciate MSHA for making this possible.”
Tuesday's game will tip at 7 p.m., and a win would send the Bucs to the semifinals of the league tournament.
