Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State University men's basketball team today announced that Tim Boyd, a 6-5 forward, had signed a National Letter of Intent. Boyd will join the Buc program this fall.
As a senior captain, Boyd led Crossett (Ark.) High School to a 22-5 record and a berth in the Arkansas State 4A Semifinals. Boyd averaged 21.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and three blocks per game. He was a three-time All-Conference honoree, All-County honoree, a two-time All-State honoree and the Ashley News Observer Player-of-the-Year. In addition, Boyd was named the the 4A Southeast Player-of-the-Year in Arkansas.
"Tim is the most talented player that I have coached," said Crossett High School Head Coach Robert Williams. "He is very gifted."
"We are very excited about Tim joining our basketball program," said ETSU Head Coach Ed DeChellis. "He brings a great deal of athleticism and is a great finisher around the basket. He also has the ability to step out and shoot the ball from 15 feet. His strength is driving the ball to the basket and finishing. He is a great kid who comes from a great high school program."
Boyd joins Jerald Fields (Gainesville, Fla.), Ryan Carson (Charlotte, N.C.) and Zakee Wadood (Lonoke, Ark.) on the Bucs 2000-01 recruiting class.
