JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Mar. 16, 2003) - The East Tennessee State University men's basketball team will face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Friday, Mar. 21 in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament from the St. Petersburg Times Forum in Tampa, Fla. and hosted by the University of South Florida. East Tennessee State (20-10) was awarded the No. 15 seed in the East Region of the tournament after winning the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Championship over Chattanooga, 97-90, on Mar. 8 from Charleston, S.C. Wake Forest (24-5) is the No. 2 seed in the East, and was an at-large selection into the tournament after winning the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season championship. This is WFU's third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, and is the ETSU's first since 1992. Ticket and travel information will be posted on www.ETSUBucs.com as soon as it becomes available.
