JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 28, 2005) - The Tennessee Sports Writers Association announced on Thursday that for the second straight year East Tennessee State University junior guard Tim Smith (Newport News, Va.) has been selected to the organization's all-state collegiate basketball team.

Smith, who finished seventh in the country with an average of 22.2 points per game, is a two-time Southern Conference first team selection and a two-time SoCon Tournament MVP. The 5-foot-9 guard has electrified ETSU fans for the past three seasons, collecting 1,685 points in all. Smith enters his senior season on pace to surpass the Bucs' all-time leading scorer, Greg Dennis, who netted 2,204 points from 1987 to 1992.

Other players selected to the 2004-05 TSWA All-State Team included Tennessee Tech's Willie Jenkins, Chattanooga's Mindaugas Katelynas, Vanderbilt's Corey Smith and Memphis' Darius Washington. The team is selected by voting members of the Tennessee Sports Writers Association, which includes sports writers and sports information directors across the state.
