JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 12, 2004) - The 2004-2005 basketball season at East Tennessee State University will kick off this weekend, as both the men's and women's basketball teams open practice on Saturday. In addition, both teams will host Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday in Brooks Gym at 4 p.m.

The event, which is free to the public, will feature the ETSU cheerleaders and band, Bucky the Mascot, scrimmages by both the men's and women's teams, a free throw shooting contest and hot shot contest for fans, and an autograph session. Door prizes and other giveaways will also be a part of the day.

In addition to Fan Appreciation Day, Buccaneer fans should also mark their calendars for Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. in Brooks Gym. The ETSU men's basketball team will play its annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage to benefit the Children's Hospital at Johnson City Medical Center. There will be a small admission charge for the event, with part of those proceeds going directly to the Children's Hospital. Promotions, giveaways, and other surprises will also be a part of this event.
