ETSU men's basketball grants release to Taylor

Thursday, May 10, 2007

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 10, 2007) - ETSU men's basketball coach Murry Bartow announced Thursday that sophomore guard Tayloe Taylor (Memphis) has requested and will receive permission to transfer.

Taylor - a 6-2, 160-pound guard from Wooddale High School - played in all 34 of the Buccaneers' games a year ago, starting 28 of those contests. He averaged 19.9 minutes, 3.0 points, 3.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds a game. While Taylor started the majority of games during the 2006-07 season, rising sophomore guard Dequan Twilley (Shelbyville, Tenn.) received the majority of playing time at point with 26.7 minutes a contest, and was usually in the game late in most contests.

For Taylor, a three-game stretch early in the season against Southern, Mercer and Stetson were his best moments of the year, as he played all 120 minutes, scoring 29 points and dishing out 15 assists.

"We thank Tayloe for what he brought to our program and appreciate his efforts here," Bartow said. "We wish him the best."

With Taylor's departure, the Bucs now have five scholarships open for the 2007-08 signing class.
