JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 20, 2007) - Senior forward Andrew Reed (Port Richey, Fla.) and sophomore guard Mike Smith (Vandalia, Mo.) each posted double-doubles to lead the Gold past the Blue in the ETSU men's basketball team's annual Homecoming scrimmage Saturday at Memorial Center.

A large crowd of Buccaneer fans numbering over 1,000 were on hand to watch newcomers such as junior college transfers Kevin Tiggs (Flint, Mich.) and Jacolby Davis (Meridian, Miss.), along with true freshman forward Isiah Brown (Miami, Fla.) as they made their ETSU debuts. However, it was redshirt freshman Micah Williams (Manchester) that made the biggest impact among the new faces, posting the Blue squad's lone double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

In a game that was back-and-forth throughout despite poor shooting by both teams, Smith showed his range with three 3-pointers on his way to scoring 12 points, while also grabbing 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Reed posted game highs with 25 points and 13 boards, and senior Kenyona Swader (Smyrna, Tenn.) grabbed 10 boards and scored nine points for the Gold team.

Along with Williams' 17-point effort, junior guard Courtney Pigram (Memphis) struggled from the field but still managed to score a team-high 21 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Tiggs, meanwhile, scored 15 points and grabbed seven boards in his Blue/Gold debut.

Davis led all players with six assists on the night, but committed seven turnovers. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Dequan Twilley (Shelbyville) had five assists and three turnovers for the Gold.

The Blue squad shot just 37 percent from the floor, while the Gold hit on 39 percent from the outside. The Gold did hit on 86 percent of their foul shots.
