Bartow receives contract extension through 2015
Tuesday, May 04, 2010
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 4, 2010) - ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins announced Tuesday that the Buccaneers' head men's basketball coach Murry Bartow has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in Johnson City until at least the end of the 2014-15 season.
In his seven seasons at ETSU, Bartow has led the Buccaneers to three NCAA Tournament berths, an NIT appearance, and four 20-win campaigns. In that time, Bartow has posted the highest winning percentage of any coach in ETSU history (.613), and guided the Buccaneers to six conference championships.
The team is also coming off back-to-back trips to the NCAAs in 2009 and 2010.
"The success our program has enjoyed under Coach Bartow's leadership obviously warrants a contract extension," Mullins said. "He has continued our winning tradition at ETSU, and he's done so with a commitment to recruiting quality student-athletes with great basketball skills and strong character. His willingness to help our program through the scheduling of guarantee games, and efforts to help raise revenue through corporate supporters and BASA members has been very beneficial to the entire department."
Bartow said he is appreciative of the extension and looks forward to the future at ETSU.
"I want to thank President Stanton and Dave Mullins for their support of what we are doing here," Bartow said. "Without their support, none of what we do is possible. We have a great program with a committed support staff and a strong fan base. The past seven years have been a lot of fun and we are already working hard to prepare for next season."
