Fireworks, shot contest, team introductions, free food to highlight seventh-annual event

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 21, 2014) – The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday that it will once again officially welcome the upcoming basketball season with another Bluenanza event on Monday, Oct. 27.

This will mark the seventh straight year that Buccaneer fans have come together to start the new season with a festive basketball celebration. The event will begin this year at 6 p.m. with a special Homecoming parade through campus, which will start near the Physical Plant before making its way to the quad in front of Brooks Gym.

Free food will be provided for students beginning at 6:30, and the main activities will then begin around 7 p.m. with the introduction of the Homecoming Court. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will then be introduced, followed by a special fan contest where four lucky students will have the opportunity to win free in-state tuition for a semester by making a shot from the top of Brooks Gym into a goal located inside the quad.

Fireworks will then wrap up the evening. ETSU students are highly encouraged to attend, but admission is also free to the general public.

To purchase season tickets for the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball season, contact the ETSU ticket office at 423-439-ETSU (3878), or purchase them the night of Bluenanza. For more information on Buccaneer athletics, visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
