JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 24, 2014) – While the schedule may say “Blue-Gold Scrimmage,” fans of ETSU men’s basketball can expect much more than a normal intra-squad game when the Buccaneers tipoff at 7 p.m. next Thursday night, Oct. 30 inside Freedom Hall.
This will be the first opportunity for the public to see the 2014-15 Buccaneers on the court, and ETSU head coach Murry Bartow said his hope is to give fans a unique experience unlike any previous Blue-Gold Game. And even better, the evening is free to the public.
"When people think of a typical scrimmage like this they think it’s just a normal practice game,” Bartow said. “We want to do more this year, so I will have a microphone and we will not only introduce the team, but during our warm-ups we will talk about how we prepare and what we are doing on the court. By doing this, people can learn more about how we operate and how we coach.
“We will still have a portion of the evening set aside for a scrimmage, but there will be so much more to it than just the game.”
With the Bucs making Freedom Hall their home for the 2014-15 season, this will also be the first time fans will see the team’s repainted floor and the game day set-up within the Bucs’ new venue. There will be contests, promotions and giveaways throughout the evening to go along with the basketball activity on the floor.
