JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 19, 2015) – The ETSU men’s and women’s basketball programs will host the annual preseason hoops celebration Bluenanza presented by Johnson City Honda on Thursday evening, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. inside Brooks Gym.
The event, which is free to the public, will feature both programs in traditional 3-point shooting challenges, dunk exhibitions, and intra-squad workouts. Fans will also have the opportunity to hear from coaches Steve Forbes and Brittney Ezell about their expectations for the upcoming season, as this will be the first opportunity to see both teams together at the same time and on the same floor.
Special contests and prizes will also be held for fans and students. Specifically, three fan-engagement contests will have fans team up with selected players to win prizes such as an Apple iWatch, $300 cash and an iTunes gift card. In addition, three lucky students will have an opportunity to make a half-court shot for free tuition in the spring semester.
“There is a great deal of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming basketball season,” said ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Richard Sander. “We are expecting a great crowd in Brooks Gym on Thursday night and hope our fans will enjoy this opportunity to interact with both teams.”
The 2015-16 season is fast approaching, as the men’s program will play an exhibition game against Tusculum on Nov. 5, while the women’s team will face Milligan College in a preseason matchup on Nov. 7. Fans can purchase their season tickets for both programs by visiting ETSUBucs.com and clicking on the tickets link, or by calling the ETSU athletics ticket office at 423-439-ETSU (3878).
