JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 25, 2016) – ETSU men’s basketball’s Ge’Lawn Guyn (Lexington, Ky.) has been named the Southern Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week by collegesportsmadness.com. Guyn averaged 19 points per game last week to help the Bucs win a pair of overtime games against Mercer and The Citadel.
Guyn began the week with an 18 point performance Thursday against Mercer. The most important points of Guyn’s night came when he connected on a layup with 28 seconds to go in regulation forcing the game into overtime. After helping ETSU get to overtime, Guyn scored four the team’s eight points in the extra period to seal the 67-65 victory. The Lexington, Ky. native also tallied three rebounds and a pair of steals Thursday.
Similar to the game Thursday, Guyn hit a game-tying shot in the closing seconds of regulation to force the game into overtime. In total, Guyn had a team-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting including 2-of-4 beyond the arc in Saturday’s 101-92 win against The Citadel.
Next up for Guyn and Bucs is a four-game road swing beginning Jan. 28 at Wofford. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
