JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 13, 2018) – ETSU men’s basketball head coach Steve Forbes will be making a pair of appearances on the speaking circuit next week.

Forbes will begin by making a presentation at the local IDEAcademy sponsored by Eastman and the ETSU College of Business and Technology. The two-day event is scheduled for Sept. 18-19 inside the Toy F. Reid Employee Event Center in Kingsport, and Forbes is scheduled to speak at 11:22 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

IDEAcademy is a free multi-day event held in locations throughout the Tri-Cities region focusing on short talks from thought leaders in the world of innovation and leadership. For more on the event and a complete list of this year’s speakers, click here:

Forbes will then head to the American Cancer Society’s 2018 Coaches vs. Cancer Tennessee Tip-Off Reception hosted at City Winery in Nashville on Thursday, Sept. 20. Forbes will join fellow head coaches from the state of Tennessee including Vanderbilt’s Bryce Drew, Memphis’ Penny Hardaway, Lipscomb’s Casey Alexander, and Tennessee State’s Brian Collins, among others.

The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. This initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. Since 1993, coaches have raised nearly $100 million for the American Cancer Society.

‚ÄčThe Tennessee Tip-off boosts enthusiasm for the upcoming basketball season, shares team predictions, and recognizes and cultivates relationships with the team's supporters. Guests will enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvres, dinner, an unique experience to meet the coaches, and an evening of basketball banter; all while raising funds to support the American Cancer Society's life-saving mission.
