BOONE, N.C. (Oct. 16, 2008) - The ETSU women's cross country team will make the short trip over to Boone, N.C. on Friday afternoon to compete in the Appalachian State Blue Ridge Open. The 5K run is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the Don Kennedy Trails, located at the State Farm Complex.

ETSU will be led upfront by sophomore sisters Terra and Tesha Haggard (Morristown, Tenn.) and freshman Victoria Jones (Marshall, N.C.). (Tesha) Haggard has led the Buccaneers across the finish line in the previous two meets; while Jones continues to build on a successful rookie campaign.

The women's race will be highly competitive, as it features two nationally ranked teams, NC State (18th) and Duke (28th). In addition, a few regional rivals will be in action, in University of North Carolina, Clemson, Charlotte and Coastal Carolina, who are ranked fifth, ninth, tenth, and 14th in the latest regional polls. ETSU will also compete against a few Atlantic Sun foes as USC Upstate and Campbell make the trip to Boone.

The Buccaneer men's cross country team will be in action on Saturday afternoon when they compete in the NCAA Pre-National Meet, in Terre Haute, Ind.
