ETSU Cross Country Starts Season at Western Carolina

Cullowhee, N.C. - The East Tennessee State University men's and women's cross country team began the season at the Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina University on Saturday. The men's team placed fifth overall while the women finished sixth. Several ETSU runners showed they are ready to compete in the Southern Conference this season. Roseline Addo demonstrated that she can contend for the Conference cross country title. Addo finished in seventh place overall and ran the 2.2 miles in 13:35. Teammate Emily Chaney also ran well and placed 15th with a time of 13:53. On the men's side, Freshman Brad Yewer was the highest finisher for the Buccaneers in ninth place with a time of 15:50. Senior Greg Sprowl did well by running the 5K in16:04, earning a 15th place finish. The Buccaneer cross country team will travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to compete in the Winthrop Invitational on September 15, 2001.
