ETSU Men's Cross Country Wins Pre-Conference Invite, Women's Cross Country Finishes Sixth

DAVIDSON, N.C. (September 13, 2003) - The ETSU men's cross country team won the Pre-Conference Invitational held at Davidson College by one point, while the women's cross country team placed sixth. Junior Bradley Yewer (Newbury, England finished third, senior David Haefner (Hamburg, N.Y.) finished sixth, and freshman Greg Kenny (Leixlip, Co. Kildare, Ireland) finished tenth in the 8K race and led the Buccaneers to the first place team finish. On the women's side, sophomores Christine Ward (Candler, N.C.) and Katie Marshall (Metuchen, N.J.) finished led ETSU and finished 20th and 21st, respectively, in the 5K race. "Today we did not run near to our full potential," stated assistant coach Michelle Byrne. "We learned about ourselves today and what we will need to work on for the upcoming races. Hopefully we will be able to do that." The cross country teams have a weekend off before traveling to Cary, N.C. to compete at the Great American Cross Country Festival.
