BOONE, N.C. (Sept. 17, 2010) - For the second consecutive meet seniors Ben Ronoh (Sotik, Kenya) and Caitlyn Epps (Cookeville, Tenn.) led the ETSU cross country teams across the finish line, as the Bucs posted a solid showing Friday evening at the Mountaineer Open in Boone, N.C.
Epps, who led the charge two weeks ago on the same course, shaved a second off her season-opening time at the Don Kennedy Trails. The Cookeville, Tenn. native notched a time of 19:13 and placed 15th overall.
In addition to Epps, freshman Kayla Kuziola (Johnson City) also improved on her season-opening time. The local product finished the 5000m race in 21:06, cutting 41 seconds off her mark she tallied at the Covered Bridge Open on Sept. 3 in Boone.
Meanwhile, as Epps was busy leading the way for the Lady Bucs, Ronoh was doing the exact same for the ETSU men's team. Ronoh was the 20th competitor (out of 86 runners) to finish the 6400m race Friday night.
Joining Ronoh with a strong race was freshman Desmond Pierce (Morristown, Tenn.), who placed 33rd overall.
Due to timing issues, times were not available for the men's race and will be posted later.
The ETSU cross country teams return to action on Friday, Oct. 1, when the Bucs compete in the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational.
