NEW ORLEANS, La. (Feb. 11, 2003) - The East Tennessee State Buccaneer men's golfers shot a final-round 295 to finish fourth (301-297-295=893) in the Tulane Invitational Tuesday at the English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans, La. Senior James Johnson (Barbados) paced the Bucs, shooting a 73 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for third at 1-over-par (70-74-73=217). Johnson finished seven strokes behind tournament medallist Bill Haas of Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons (292-293-289=874) also won the team championship, defeating Southern Methodist by one stroke (292-292-291=875). Buccaneer sophomore Jeremy Hobson (Thonotosassa, Fla.) and freshman Derek McNamara (Galway, Ireland) were the next Buccaneer finishers, tying for 18th. McNamara (76-75-74=225) fired a final-round 74 while Hobson (75-73-77=225) closed with a 77 on Tuesday. ETSU sophomore Cennydd Mills (Cardiff, Wales) tied for 27th at 80-75-74=229, and sophomore Marco Trejos (San Jose, Costa Rica) carded 81-79-74=234 to finish tied for 35th. The Buccaneer men's golfers return to action at the Puerto Rico Classic, Feb. 23-25 from San Juan, P.R.
