ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 15, 2006) - Sophomore Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh, Scotland) fired a 3-under-par 69 to lead the ETSU men's golf team to a ninth-place standing after round one of the Carpet Capital Collegiate Friday at the Farm Golf Club. This weekend's event marks the opening tournament of the 2006-‘07 season for the Bucs.
Findlay is currently tied for ninth on the individual leaderboard, four strokes off the pace set by leader Darren Blair of North Carolina State. Meanwhile, on the team leaderboard, the Bucs are currently at 2-over for the event, while Alabama surged to a two-stroke lead over second-place Clemson. The Crimson Tide is currently at 12-under for the event.
Along with Findlay, the Bucs got a strong effort from junior Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland), who posted a 2-under 70 and is currently tied for 13th. While Findlay and Shaw led the way, senior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales), the defending champion of the Carpet Capital Collegiate, finished the day tied for 51st after shooting a 3-over 75. Other ETSU results included a 76 by freshman Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) and a 79 by junior Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland).
