RIO GRANDE, P.R. (Feb. 28, 2009) - Junior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) fired a team-best, 2-under-par 70 to help the No. 24-ranked ETSU men's golf team move up three spots to 11th on the team leaderboard following Saturday's second round play in the Puerto Rico Classic hosted at the Rio Mar Country Club.
The Buccaneers fired a team score of 8-over 291 in the second round, while the event is being led by No. 1 Georgia which posted a 270 on Saturday to hold a seven stroke advantage over No. 6 Clemson. On the individual leaderboard, Texas' Dylan Fritelli leads the event with a 13-under score of 131 (67-64), while Georgia's Hudson Swafford is second at 7-under after two rounds.
For ETSU, the top Buccaneer performer so far remains sophomore Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England), who is tied for 25th at 1-over-par 145 (71-74). Freshman Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) is tied for 31st at 2-over for the tournament, while Power is tied for 40th at 3-over 147 and sophomore Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) is tied for 66th with a score of 152.
The Puerto Rico Classic, which is hosted by Purdue University, will conclude Sunday with third and final round play set to begin in the morning. Live scoring for the event is not available, but ETSUBucs.com will have a complete wrap up following each day's action.
