GEORGETOWN, S.C. (Mar. 11, 2012) – The ETSU men’s golf team opened play at the General Hackler Championship in 12th place after two rounds in the event’s opening day on Sunday.
ETSU posted rounds of 309 and 305 on the opening day at the par-71, 7,189-yard DeBordieu Club.
No. 14 North Florida sits atop the leaderboard at 14-over (300-282—582) as the Ospreys have a two-shot lead over No. 9 Arkansas. No. 19 New Mexico and No. 49 Augusta State are just five shots off the lead at +19.
Sean Dale of North Florida, the No. 46-ranked individual in the country, leads the field at 3-under (69-70—139) overall and is just one of two players in the field that is under-par after two rounds. Peter Valasek of host Coastal Carolina is the other player in the field below-par as he sits two back of the lead at 1-under (70-71—141). Derek Chang of Augusta State and Victor Perez of New Mexico are just three back of the lead at even-par.
Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) was the top Buccaneer after two rounds as he is tied for 23rd at +5 (76-73—149). Freshman Rhys Pugh (Pontypridd, Wales) is just two shots behind Enoch at +7 (77-74—151).
Meanwhile, freshman Tom Heggarty (Cheshire, England) is tied for 47th (77-78—155) and freshman Sam Edwards (Bigbury, England) is tied for 68th (79-80—159).
ETSU will be paired with Tennessee, Lamar and Coastal Carolina for the third and final round tomorrow beginning at 8:20 a.m. Live results will be available at golfstat.com.
