Men's Golfers in Eleventh After First Round of Carpet Capital Classic

Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State men's golfers are in 11th place after the first round of the Carpet Capital Classic from The Farm in Dalton, Ga. The 25th ranked Buccaneers shot a 303 on the first day of play and are 23 shots behind the tournament hosts and first-round leaders, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Freshman Marco Trejos led the way for the Bucs in the first round. Marco is currently in a tie for fourth place after shooting a 3-under par 69 on the first day of play. Freshman Cennydd Mills was the next Buccaneer finisher, tying for 46th after shooting a 5-over par 77. Junior James Johnson finished one stroke behind Mills, in a tie for 54th after shooting a 6-over par 78. Freshman Jeremy Hobson shot a 7-over par 79, finishing one stroke behind Johnson in a tie for 57th. The final Buccaneer finisher was junior Adam Riddering who finished in a tie for 74th after shooting a first round 11-over par 83. The Buccaneers will tee off Saturday morning in the second round of the Carpet Capital Classic from The Farm in Dalton, Ga. Live scoring of the tournament can be followed at http://live.golfstat.com.
