Records Broken in First Two Rounds of The Ridges Golf Tournament

Johnson City, Tenn. - The first round of the Bank of Tennessee/The Ridges Intercollegiate Golf Tournament saw Adam Rubinson of Texas Christian University break the tournament's best first round score by one stroke ending with a 64. The previous record was held by Carlton Forrester of Clemson in 1998. The record for best second round score was broken when the University of Southern California's David Oh shot a 65, which broke Johan Kok of South Carolina's 66 which he shot in 1998. Teams in the tournament also went after some records. The University of Southern California shot a 274 to break the old record set by the University of Oklahoma in 1998 when their team shot a 279. Texas Christian University and USC tied with Clemson for the best one-round score. All three schools shot a 274. Clemson set this record in 1998. TCU shot 554 over the first two rounds which gives them the lead over USC by four strokes. Individually, TCU's Rubinson shot 133 today and second place Bill Haas of Wake Forest University is just two strokes back. East Tennessee State University is currently in sixth place at three under. The team shot a 284 in the first round and a 289 in the second. Cennydd Mills is the highest ranking Buccaneer, tied for eighth place with a score of 140 which puts him at four under. The third round is scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning with Clemson Unciversity, the University of Tennessee and Auburn University starting on the front nine. East Tennessee State tees off on the front nine at 8:40 a.m. with the University of South Carolina and the University of Oklahoma.
