ETSU men's golf currently 15th at Puerto Rico Classic
Davies Sunday, February 22, 2004 RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (Feb. 22, 2004) - Freshman Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) shot a 1-over-par 73 to lead the East Tennessee State University men's golf team in first round action Sunday at the Puerto Rico Classic. The Buccaneers are currently 15th after one round of the three-day at the Rio Mar Country Club River Course.Clemson currently leads the team competition by two strokes over second-place Oklahoma with a combined score of 7-under 281. In the individual competition, Texas' Jason Hartwick fired a 6-undre 66 to take a one-stroke advantage over Clemson's Jack Ferguson. Along with Davies, other ETSU efforts included sophomore Andrew Paduch (Johnson City), who tied for 56th at 4-over and junior Cennydd Mills (Cardiff, Wales), who finished tied for 66th at 5-over. Freshman Stephen Arnold (Langhorne, Penn.) and sophomore Noel Kavanagh (Westport, Ireland) rounded out the Bucs' effort with scored over 6-over and 8-over, respectively. The Puerto Rico Classic is ETSU's first event of the spring season and will continue with second round play Monday and third round play on Tuesday.
