            AUGUSTA, Ga. (April 3, 2005) - The East Tennessee State University men's golf team enjoyed one of their most respectable outings of the 2004-05 season, matching their best team finish of the year with a tie for fourth Sunday in the Augusta State Invitational at the Forest Hills Golf Club.

            The Bucs were led by sophomore Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales), who finished tied for third on the individual leaderboard with a three-round score of 6-over-par 222. Davies finished five strokes back of Georgia's Chris Kirk, who took home the top individual medalist honor. On the team leaderboard, host Augusta State garnered the championship, besting second-place Georgia by one stroke.

            Along with Davies, the Bucs got solid performances from freshmen Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) and Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland). Shaw finished tied for 21st, while McNamara ended the day in 23rd.

            The Bucs will return to action in The Intercollegiate hosted by North Carolina State on April 8-9 in Raleigh, N.C. The Intercollegiate will be ETSU's final tournament before competing in the Southern Conference Championship April 17-19 in Charlotte, N.C.
