            JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 16, 2005) - The good news keeps coming for East Tennessee State's Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales).

           

            The sophomore golfer was named the Southern Conference Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, making it back-to-back weeks that he has earned that distinction. Back on March 6, Davies captured his first tournament title of the spring season with a victory at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla., and subsequently took home the first SoCon GOTW honor of his career. This week, he turned the trick again, firing a three-round score of 2-under-par and capturing the Gen. Jim Hackler Invitational title in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was then named the SoCon GOTW again.

 

            Davies, who currently leads the Bucs with a stroke average of 70.8, has three individual tournament titles already in his young college career. The 2003-04 SoCon Freshman of the Year, Davies' three wins included a victory at the Carpet Capital Intercollegiate back in November, along with his two tournament victories this spring.

 

            The Buccaneers, who have played in three tournaments already this spring, will return to action on April 4 at the Cleveland Golf Classic in Augusta, Ga.
