JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 4, 2004) - After one of the most impressive individual fall efforts in East Tennessee State University men's golf history, sophomore Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) will enter the 2005 spring season as one of the top-ranked golfers in the nation.

With fall competition ended, Davies currently ranks 6th nationally in the Golfweek individual rankings, thanks mainly to Top 3 finishes in all of the tournaments in which he has competed so far this season - including a win in one of the country's toughest fields at the Carpet Capital Collegiate.

Davies, who competed on the victorious European Palmer Cup team over the summer and finished tied for 25th at the World Amateur earlier this fall, finished the season with a 70.5 stroke average to lead the Bucs. In his career so far, Davies has posted five career sub-70 rounds, including a school-record tying 64 in the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions.
