ETSU men's golf battles to seventh place finish at Hackler

MURRELS INLET, S.C. (March 10, 2008) - The No. 22-ranked ETSU men's golf team was not pleased with its trip to the General Jim Hackler Championship, but there was at least something to be encouraged by following Monday's third and final round at the TPC of Myrtle Beach. The Buccaneers fired their best round of the tournament to move from 10th to a tie for seventh on the final day of play, finishing 18 strokes back of team champion and No. 18-ranked "We played better in stretches today, but we still saw some of the same with too many three putts and water balls," said ETSU head coach Fred Warren. "This just wasn't one of our best performances. We were happy with moving up a couple of spots, but hopefully we can figure some things out before our next tournament." Shaw finished nine strokes back of individual champion Derek Fathauer from The Bucs will return to action March 24 in the U.S. Collegiate Championship in |
