JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 18, 2008) - ETSU men's golf coach Fred Warren announced Tuesday that the Buccaneers have received national letters of intent from two of Great Britain and Ireland's best amateur players.
Ben Enoch, a native of Cornwall, England, and brother to current ETSU sophomore Rhys Enoch, joins Garth McGee, a native of Northern Ireland, as the first two members of the team's 2009-2010 freshman class.
Enoch was runner-up in the 2008 Welsh Amateur Championship and was the youngest member of the Welsh Men's Team. In addition, he played for the Great Britain and Ireland Boys Team, and was captain of the Welsh Team at the 2008 World Amateur Championship.
Meanwhile, McGee was the youngest member of the Irish Men's Team, a member of the Irish Boy's Team, and made it to the fifth round of the British Boys Amateur Championship.
While the younger Enoch and McGee will join the Buccaneers in the fall of next season, the 2008-09 ETSU squad finished ranked No. 24 by Golfweek/Sagarin following the fall season, and will return to action for the spring season Feb. 2 in the PING Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
