LIHUE, KAUA'I, HAWAI'I (March 13, 2009) - After being named the Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Month for February, ETSU junior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) continues to play well as the Buccaneers began action in the Kauai Collegiate Classic Friday at the Wailua Golf Course.
Power fired a first round 1-under 71 and followed that effort with a 3-under 69 to finish in second place and one stroke back of the individual lead heading into Saturday's third and final round. Power trails Logan Blondell of Georgia Southern, who finished at 5-under 139 following the first day of play.
Power's efforts - along with a tie for fourth by ETSU freshman Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) and a tie for ninth by sophomore Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) - have the No. 27 Buccaneers in second place, just three strokes out of the lead behind first-place Georgia Southern, a former Southern Conference rival for ETSU.
Stewart finished the first day at 1-under 143, while Enoch ended at 2-over 146. Other ETSU results included a tie for 13th by sophomore Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland), who stands at 3-ver 147, and a tie for 27th by senior Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh, Scotland).
The Bucs will conclude play in the Kauai Collegiate Classic on Saturday. Visit ETSUBucs.com for a complete wrap up of the team's results.
