ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 13, 2009) - The ETSU men's golf team finished where it started in the Carpet Capital Collegiate, posting a team score of 299 for the second time during the event and placing 10th following Sunday's third and final round at the Farm Golf Club.
The Buccaneers, who began the tournament in 10th place after first round action, tied with Georgia on the team leaderboard. Meanwhile, in-state rivals Tennessee and Chattanooga finished first and second, respectively, with the Volunteers besting the Mocs by 12 strokes to take the championship.
Texas Tech's Nils Floren and Tennessee's Darren Renwick tied for the individual championship, while ETSU sophomore Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) posted the Bucs' top performance, finishing tied for 24th for the event with an even par 72 on Sunday (78-70-72=220).
Other ETSU results included a pair of 2-over 74s from sophomore Devin Komline (Dorset, Vermont) and junior Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland). Komline finished the tournament tied for 29th, while O'Kane finished tied for 40th and senior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) placed tied for 45th.
