Power, Stewart post sub-70 rounds at Hootie

                AWENDAW, S.C. (March 29, 2010) - Senior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) fired a team-best, 3-under-par 68 and sophomore Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) posted a 2-under-par 69 to lead the ETSU men's golf team during second round play in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate Monday at the Bulls Bay Golf Club.

 

Power and Stewart's efforts helped the 29th-ranked Buccaneers to a 12th place standing on the team leaderboard heading into Tuesday's third and final round. The LSU Tigers continue to lead the event at 566, while 19th-ranked South Carolina is two strokes back. ETSU is currently at 585 for the tournament, an event that includes 12 teams ranked in the nation's Top 46.

 

Individually, N.C.State's Matt Hill stands at 7-under 135 (68-67) and leads South Carolina's Patrick Rada by two strokes.

 

For the Bucs, Stewart is tied for 18th on the individual leaderboard at 1-over 143 for the tournament (74-69), while Power is tied for 25th at 2-over for the event. Other ETSU results include a tie for 55th by juniors Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) and Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland).

 

Power's day was highlighted by five birdies and just two bogeys, while Stewart had an impressive six birdies. However, Stewart also had two bogeys and a double bogey on the day.
