ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 10, 2010) - The ETSU men's golf teamed opened up the Capital Carpet Collegiate by firing a 295 (+7) to sit in ninth place after the first round on Friday afternoon.
The Bucs were led by a trio of players on the afternoon. Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England), Devin Komline (Dorset, Vermont) and Spencer Lawson (Raleigh, N.C.) each shot 1-over par rounds of 73 at The Farm Golf Club (par 72, 7,012 yards). The trio currently stands in a tie for 23rd overall. Lawson, who is playing in his first collegiate event finished with five birdies and six bogeys.
Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) a solid round put together but got hurt with two double-bogeys during his round. He ended up shooting a 76 (+4) and is tied for 43rd. Peter Wilson (Locust Valley, N.Y.) rounded out the ETSU scoring.
Alabama leads after the first day as they sit at 8-under par (285). Clemson sits in third (5-under) while Auburn follows in third (3-under).
Blayne Barber of Auburn and David Dannelly of Clemson share the individual lead as both shot matching 5-under par (67) rounds. Evan Beck of Wake Forest is just a shot back at 4-under.
