JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 4, 2011) - The ETSU men's golf team took some time out of its busy schedule to volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee on Saturday morning.
The Bucs volunteered from 9-12 a.m. on Saturday morning sorting and packaging donated food for distribution to food pantries that provide free food to the less fortunate all over Eastern Tennessee. During its time there, the team was able to sort and package nearly 5000 pounds of food.
The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics takes pride in its community service activities and strives for 100 percent participation from its student-athletes, coaches and administrators throughout the year.
The mission of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee is to feed the hungry by securing and distributing food and grocery products to non-profit agencies that provide services to the needy, ill and elderly in the eight-county region of Northeast Tennessee.
The Food Bank is a non-profit organization serving the eight counties in Northeast Tennessee with emergency food for distribution.
