Men’s golf completes play at U.S. Collegiate Championship

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (October 25, 2011) – The ETSU men's golf team fired a 300 on Tuesday, its best round of the tournament, during the final day of the U.S. Collegiate Championship at The Golf Club of Georgia.
ETSU compiled a 908 (304-304-300) for the 54-hole event to finish 15th place in a field that featured 13 ranked programs.
UCLA won the team title at 12-under-par, following a final round 5-under – the best team score of the day. Washington and Auburn finished tied for second at 9-under, while host Georgia Tech finished in fourth at even-par.
Dominic Bozzelli of Auburn and Johannes Veerman of Texas A&M shared the individual title at 6-under-par. Blayne Barber of Auburn, Patrick Cantlay of UCLA, Michael Johnson of Auburn, Cheng-Tsung Pan of Washington and Julian Suri each finished tied for 3rd at 4-under.
Freshman Rhys Pugh (Pontypridd, Wales) had the low score for the Bucs on Tuesday with a 2-over-par 74. Pugh finished at +13 overall (80-75-74—229) to tie for 64th.
Meanwhile, Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) and Spencer Lawson (Raleigh, N.C.) each shot rounds of 75. Enoch paced the Bucs during the tournament as he tied for 31st position at +4 (71-74-75—220). Lawson finished the tournament tied with Pugh in 64th position at +13 (74-80-75—229).
Freshmen Scott Gibson (Dumfries, Scotland) and Sam Edwards (Bigbury, England) shot 76 and 77, respectively, to round out the ETSU scoring. Gibson finished in 69th at +15 (79-76-76—231), while Edwards finished in 72nd at +20 (80-79-77—236).
The U.S. Collegiate Championship was the last fall event on the ETSU schedule. The Bucs return to tournament action in the spring when they play in the JU Invitational on January 30.
