MACON, Ga. (May 2, 2012) – For his success both on the course and in the classroom, ETSU redshirt senior Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) was named Atlantic Sun Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Enoch, who has already earned his bachelor’s degree, currently has a perfect 4.0 GPA in graduate school. He is a four-time member of the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team. In addition, following the 2010 season, Enoch was named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.
On the course, Enoch earned Second-Team All-Atlantic Sun honors after leading the Buccaneers with a 73.5 stroke average, while earning three second place finishes during the season. Enoch finished inside the top-20 on the individual leaderboard in eight of the team’s 11 tournaments on the year. Meanwhile, he earned Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors on February 1 for his second place finish at the Sea Best Invitational.
After finishing second on the team with a 74.6 stroke average, Scott Gibson (Dumfries, Scotland) was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team. Gibson finished inside the top-25 on five occasions including closing out the season with two straight top-seven finishes.
His top finish of the year came at the Coca-Cola Invitational where he finished fifth at 6-under-par and fired his lowest round of the year on day one with a 68. He tied for seventh at the Atlantic Sun Championship and was ETSU’s top finisher at the Puerto Rico Classic, where he finished tied for 19th.
