MACON, Ga. (April 29, 2014) – Junior Rhys Pugh (Pontypridd, Wales) and sophomore Adrian Meronk (Wroclaw, Poland) were named Second Team All-Atlantic Sun as the league office released its men’s golf postseason honors on Tuesday.

Pugh and Meronk led ETSU in stroke average this past season and posted top-10 finishes at the conference championship last week in Braselton, Ga.

Pugh led the Blue and Gold in with a 72.73 stroke average and posted a team-best six top-10 finishes including a season-best fourth-place showing at the General Hackler Championship – where he shot a 2-over-par 218 (73-70-75). The two-time all-conference standout also finished fifth at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at 5-under-par 211 (67-68-76), tied for fifth at the A-Sun Championship at 3-over-par 219 (76-72-71), tied for eighth at The Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate (6-under 210), finished ninth at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational at 2-over-par 215 (69-74-72), and tied for 10th at the U.S. Collegiate Championship (3-under 213). In addition, Pugh led the team lead with 11 sub-par rounds, including the lowest score of the year with a 66 in the opening round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Pugh also played in the Sun Bowl Western Refining All-America Golf Classic, which is considered “The No. 1 tournament in collegiate golf,” and shot a 2-over 215 (73-72-70). Overall, Pugh ranked 33rd nationally with five eagles and 58th with 106 birdies.

Meronk ranked second behind Pugh in stroke average (72.97) and posted three top-10 finishes on the season. The Poland native tied for fifth at the A-Sun Championship at 3-over-par 219 (73-73-73), tied for ninth at the Mason Rudolph Championship at 1-over-par 214 (73-75-66) and tied for eighth at the rain-shortened Seahawk Intercollegiate at 1-under-par 143 (68-75). Meronk, another two-time all-conference selection, recorded his lowest collegiate score after firing a 5-under 66 in the final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship, which was also tied for the lowest round of the tournament. The Buccaneer sophomore registered nine sub-par rounds on the year, while leading the Bucs in par-5 scoring (4.86) and ranked 39th nationally with 112 birdies.

Mercer’s Trey Rule, the 2014 A-Sun individual champion, was named Golfer of the Year, while Mercer’s Steve Bradley received Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Bears to their first-ever conference title. Teremoana Beaucousin of Kennesaw State was tabbed Freshman of the Year.
