SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 23, 2016) – For the second straight week and third time in his career, ETSU senior Adrian Meronk (Wroclaw, Poland) earned Southern Conference Golfer of the Week honors, which was announced by the league office on Wednesday. In addition to earning back-to-back conference weekly honors, Meronk moved to No. 17 in the latest Golfstat rankings.
Meronk, who picked up the award last week after earning runner-up honors at the Seminole Intercollegiate, posted his seventh straight top-10 finish following the conclusion of the Airstream Adventures Northwest Classic on Tuesday afternoon in Canby, Ore. The Buccaneer All-American held a share of the lead following 36 holes and finished tied for third at 5-under-par 211 (68-70-73), while helping guide ETSU to a fourth-place showing out west.
Meronk, the reigning SoCon Golfer of the Year, has now recorded 20 top-10 career finishes, while his career stroke average of 72.13 currently ranks second in program history. The Buccaneer leader is also the first SoCon golfer to earn consecutive Golfer of the Week honors since Davidson’s Richard Fountain received the accolade in back-to-back weeks in February of 2012.
The Bucs return to action next weekend as ETSU heads to Franklin, Tenn., for the Mason Rudolph Championship, which begins Saturday, April 2 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
