JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 29, 2010) - ETSU men's soccer players Guilherme Reis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Blaike Woodruff (Georgetown, Texas) will be stopping by throughout the season to provide a weekly blog on life as an ETSU men's soccer player. Here is week four of From the Pitch featuring Blaike Woodruff.
Our past two matches against Winthrop and Marshall have both ended in a good victory for us. We are on a undefeated win streak at home, which was our goal coming into this period of continuous home games. We are ranked eighth in the region at this point and we feel that the ranking only needs to get better. We made our first goal of becoming ranked regionally, now the next step is to be recognized nationally.
We have players that are becoming better as each game goes on which is only going to make us better. Players off the bench are also contributing greatly to the team when they come into the game, which is a big part of our success. The team is starting to look as a whole on and off the field. Every film session, training, and recovery days all prepare us for the next game. For the next win.
Our winning mentality is almost here as a team. These next few games are crucial to our success and our confidence. With all the hard work we put in at training and in games, there is no reason why we shouldn't be successful. But it all comes down to desire and want as a team. Everyone should come out and watch us as we face off against Campbell on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Mercer on Saturday at 7 p.m. as we make a push for the conference championship.
Until next time,
Blaike Woodruff #4
