FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 10, 2010) - The ETSU men's soccer team suffered a 5-0 defeat Sunday night falling to Florida Gulf Coast at the FGCU Soccer Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
"This was a very disappointing conference road trip for us," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "We must learn what we can from it and be ready for our next conference match on Friday."
Both teams took 13 shots in the contest as the Eagles (8-2-2, 4-0-0 A-Sun) had an 8-6 edge in shots on target, while the Bucs (7-4-0, 2-2-0 A-Sun) had an 8-7 advantage in corners.
Ryan Piece put FGCU up 1-0 in the 30th minute as he headed the rebound from a Juan Castellon shot into the back of the net.
The Eagles quickly added their second goal of the match in the 32nd minute when Castellon fired a shot from 25-yards out into the upper left corner of the net.
Alexei Reyes continued the offensive onslaught for Florida Gulf Coast in the 43rd minute as his shot from 22-yards out found the back of the net to increase the FGCU advantage to 3-0.
FGCU's Caleb Lynch added another for the Eagles in the 81st minute as he knocked in a pass from William Morse to make the score 4-0 Florida Gulf Coast.
In the 85th minute, Deion Jones capped off the scoring for FGCU as he sent a ball into the back of the net off of an ETSU defender to make the final 5-0.
